Play the Game - Golf Instruction.

Thank you for visiting the Play the Game Golf web site. I'm Chuck Castor, Director of Instruction at Bramble Ridge Golf Course in Lakeland, Florida.

The great Ben Hogan once said, "Most golf shots are missed before we ever make a back swing." That's absolutely true, most golfers don't understand the concept of how an effective swinging motion, down into the back of the ball, will cause solid contact which will spin the ball up into the air and down the target line.

When I give you lessons, you'll learn how to make solid contact with the ball on every swing. Once you understand the importance of GASP or grip, aim, alignment, stance and posture, we'll focus on impact. That's how you can, given your ability, square the face of your club down into the back of the ball, along the target line every time.

Is there really a secret to the golf swing? The answer is yes and there are many of them! They are secrets only because you haven't been told about them. For example: Did you know that your body is the engine of the golf swing? Did you know that you swing the club with your belt buckle? What is face angle awareness? Is swing path really all that important? These are just some of the things that you may never have heard about. Understanding the basic concepts of the golf swing will help you to become your own instructor, lower your scores and enjoy the game even more.

Come and see me and We'll get it fixed.

Given each of our own physical characteristics and limitations, how do you square the club face to the back of the ball at impact? I couldn't swing the club like a tour player the way some instructors wanted me to. If I could, I'd be out on the Tour, (super-super senior division), instead of teaching. I know what it's like to come away from a golf lesson feeling confused and $$ poor.

When I work with you I'll guarantee you will be pleased with the results. I'll have you put your hands on the grip in a fashion that works best for you. I'll have you stand to the ball in the best athletic posture that your body will tolerate and then find the most effective way for you to square the club face down the target line at impact. What is a good golf swing? The answer is, one that works.

I make one simple promise. If after a three lesson series and practicing a few simple drills, if you aren't hitting better shots at the end of that series, I will give you your money back.

Putting, chipping, pitching are all part of the lesson series. What good does it do to hit wonderful drives almost perfect approach shots and then chip it over the green or three putt? Yikes!!
